Your address list, with figures

Addresses in — typed or as a CSV — and per row out: the Living Score with its six dimensions, road, rail and aircraft noise, the nearest metro with walking minutes, summer heat, building type, rents and purchase prices in the district and the hours of sun at the window on the first and fourth floor. All in the browser; the list never leaves the device.

What each row holds

  1. Place: the address as it stands in the city register, district, Grätzl and how far its centre is.
  2. Living Score 0 to 100 and the six dimensions 0 to 10: safety, transit, green, quiet, value, urbanity — values of the Grätzl.
  3. Noise at the address from the 2022 environmental noise map: road, rail, aircraft as the lower class boundary in dB; plus overflights per hour from the own count.
  4. Transit: the nearest metro station, its lines, the walking minutes.
  5. Sun at the window, from the city roof model: hours of direct sun on 21 March, 21 June and 21 December on the first and the fourth floor, evening sun from 5 pm and the facade direction.
  6. Surroundings and market: summer heat index, building type and pre-1945 share of the Grätzl, typical rent and purchase price per m² in the district, coordinates.

A measured disadvantage stands in the table like an advantage: aircraft noise, shading, summer heat cannot be deselected, only explained. That is the sentence a seller-paid portal cannot write.

Frequently asked

Which address formats work?

One address per line, e.g. “Schrankgasse 10, 1070 Wien” or “Reumannplatz 1 1100”. A CSV may have a header: columns called Adresse/Address, Straße/Street, Hausnummer, PLZ/Zip are recognised; without a header every cell of a line counts as the address. The postcode is required — it is the key to the tile.

What does “nearest house number” mean?

The exact number is not in the city’s address register (a new building, a side entrance, a range like 1–3). The tool then takes the nearest number on the same side of the street, at most six numbers away, and says so in the column “Match”. Everything else stays empty rather than guessed.

Are the figures for the house or for the neighbourhood?

Living Score, the six dimensions, summer heat, building type and pre-1945 share are values of the Grätzl the address belongs to; the column “Grätzl distance m” says how far its centre is. Noise, metro, overflights and sun are computed for the address itself. Rents and prices are district figures.

Why is a sun cell empty?

Empty means not measured: fewer than twelve neighbouring buildings with a measured height in 150 m. It never means “no sun”. Noise cells are empty below the mapping threshold of 55 dB, which is not the same as quiet.

May I use the result?

Reading it, quoting it and informing a person are free, with the credit “Vienna Living Map (viennalivingmap.com)”. Building it into a portal or product, redistributing the dataset or training models needs an agreement — see “For companies”.

Does my list get uploaded?

No. The browser fetches, per address, only the tile for postcode and first letter of the street (for example 1070/s) and searches the address inside it. Nothing is sent, nothing is stored; the CSV you download is written on your device.
