Accessibility statement
Vienna Living Map and Azima (viennalivingmap.com) are meant to be usable by everyone. This statement under the Austrian Accessibility Act (Barrierefreiheitsgesetz, BaFG) says what the standard is, what has been achieved, what has not yet, and whom to turn to.
In short: viennalivingmap.com is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA (EN 301 549) under the Austrian Accessibility Act; the interactive map and the 3D stage are not screen-reader operable, every measurement is available as text. Statement dated 11 October 2026.
Scope
The website viennalivingmap.com with the Vienna Living Map (districts, neighbourhoods, search), Azima (light check, reports, floor plan studio, purchase of reports via Paddle), the microsites and the free light widget. Standard: EN 301 549 with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA.
Status
Partially conformant. Implemented throughout: keyboard operation with visible focus, labelled controls (every icon button carries a name), touch targets of at least 44 px on phones, dialogs that close with Escape and the back button and are announced as dialogs, colour tokens for light and dark mode with sufficient contrast for text, “reduced motion” respected, text sizes from 16 px for inputs. Every measurement — hours of sun, noise, heat, potential — is available as text and in tables, independent of the map.
Known gaps
1. The interactive map (MapLibre) and the 3D stage of Azima cannot be operated with a screen reader; they are visual evidence, the figures stand next to them as text. 2. Drawing in the floor plan studio needs a pointer (mouse, pen or finger); sizes can be typed in the inspector, the command search opens with “/”. 3. The PDF reports are not fully tagged PDFs; the same values stand on the page as text and can be copied as text. 4. The contrast of individual elements is checked with every delivery by an automated probe (names, roles, contrast, keyboard order); findings are fixed in the next delivery. This statement names what is known on the date below — not what is hoped for.

Date and method
Prepared on 11 October 2026 by self-assessment and an automated probe over the purchase path (address entry, checkout, report). Reviewed with every delivery that changes a surface.
