Parking in Vienna: the short-stay zone, the Parkpickerl and 320 car parks including Park & Ride
The short-stay parking zone covers all of Vienna on working days from 9 am to 10 pm. Anyone staying longer needs a Parkpickerl or a car park — here are all 304 public car parks and 16 Park & Ride sites, counted by district.
The short-stay zone applies everywhere
Vienna no longer has a district where you can leave a car at the kerb for free, all day, on a working day. The whole city is one short-stay parking zone: Monday to Friday (working days) from 9 am to 10 pm, for at most two hours, paid with a parking voucher or by mobile phone.
Two kinds of exception. Designated shopping streets set their own hours and maximum stay, and a few streets on the edge of the city — in the 14th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd districts — are regulated differently. The sign on the spot always wins.

The Parkpickerl for residents
Anyone who lives in Vienna and keeps a car parks in their own district without a voucher, with the Parkpickerl — legally a flat-rate parking fee. It costs the same everywhere: €13 a month, applied for between four months and two years. On top come a one-off €50 administrative fee and a €21 federal fee, or €33 and €13 with ID Austria. It is available to the registered keeper, to anyone leasing the car, or to anyone who has rented it for at least four months. At district borders there are overlap areas. Since 1 October 2023 no sticker is issued any more.

Where the 304 public car parks are
They cluster where the kerb is scarcest. Mariahilf has 10.3 public car parks per square kilometre, Innere Stadt 9.8 and Neubau 7.5. In 10 of the 23 districts there is less than one per square kilometre — there people park in front of the house or in their own space. Ranked by density, not by count: the count mostly says how large a district is.
Park & Ride: 16 sites
Park & Ride sites sit at U-Bahn and rail stations, mostly on the edge of the city: the car stays outside, the rest of the journey goes by public transport. Prices and opening hours are set by each operator; the City of Vienna links an overview.

The address card names the nearest public car park when it is at most ten minutes on foot — further away it deliberately shows nothing, because a car park a quarter of an hour away is not a car park around the corner.
