Stadtwanderweg 2: Hermannskogel
From Sievering up the Hermannskogel — at 542 m the highest point in Vienna, crowned by the Habsburgwarte. The trail runs almost entirely through forest; you hear the city again only on the way down.
The trail runs about 11 km and takes roughly 3.5 hours on foot. It starts at Sievering (Bus 39A, Endstation) in the 19 (Döbling) district — reachable by public transport, like every Stadtwanderweg. What interests us is less the climb than the doorstep: this is how living looks where the trail runs.
