Tap a mode to show only that one.
Getting started: tap a vehicle for its line and next stops. “Ride along” follows it in 3D. Tap a stop for its departures.
By timetable, not real time
S-Bahn: ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG · without regional trains and buses · steam plumes only at the real district-heating stacks and warning lights on the towers (positions OpenStreetMap), wind from Open-Meteo for Vienna's centre, never your location — a modelled plume · shadows from building heights and the sun's position for the shown minute, window lights modelled by hour, platform and sign post as a symbol of every stop, not surveyed · tunnels and bridges of the tracks from OpenStreetMap, bridge height a model · vehicles built to their data sheets (manufacturer, Wikipedia); which type runs is a sample from the line's fleet · Headway per line · What the timetable reveals · Today in Vienna · Vienna Living Map · Deutsch
Position from the timetable, departures at the stop in real time.
Connections come from the Wiener Linien and ÖBB timetables and are computed on your device. When the first departure is within the next hour, the route asks Wiener Linien whether that very departure is on time (wave icon); the S-Bahn stays by timetable. Walking times as the crow flies, no regional trains or buses. Addresses are looked up by the City of Vienna's address service; recent routes are remembered on this device only.
Loading the timetable …
Every vehicle of the Wiener Linien, the Badner Bahn and the S-Bahn that is on the move according to the timetable travels along its line between the stops. Positions are calculated from the timetable, not measured: delays, cancellations and rail replacement services are invisible to this map. The S-Bahn comes from the ÖBB timetable and is shown up to the first stop beyond the city limits, all the way to the airport; regional trains and buses are missing. Tapping a stop shows its scheduled departures and, once available, the Wiener Linien real-time departures (the S-Bahn stays by timetable there). The map is light by day and dark by night, following the sun over Vienna. Time runs in real time by the Vienna clock; the slider shows any time of the day, and "Now" brings the clock back.
